The Connecticut Surfcasters Association is established for the promotion, protection and preservation of the surfcasting tradition, in its many forms, along our coasts.

We believe that we follow in the steps of those surf men that started fishing from our shores over 100 years ago.

The Connecticut Surfcasters Association (CSA) is a non-profit organization, founded in 1993 by Frank Capone, Mitch Corah, and Steve Pynn while on a surfcasting trip to Cuttyhunk Island, home of the famous Cuttyhunk Striped-bass club. The CSA promotes the sport of surfcasting through the education of our members and the general public.

CSA's members are men, women and their children from all walks of life that share the love of surfcasting.  CSA fosters the promotion of the sport of surfcasting to its members and the general public.  The CSA is highly regarded as one of the top surfcasting Clubs on the East Coast.

At each monthly meeting, we have a guest speaker who talks to the club about different aspects of surf fishing.  We have some of the most well-known surfcasters on the East Coast speak at our club.  Past speakers include Tony Stetzko, “Crazy” Alberto Knie, Zeno Hromin, Dennis Zambrotta, Steve McKenna to name just a few.  We also have our club members as guest speakers regarding such topics as active chunking, fishing with wetsuits, and fly fishing the surf.  In addition to educating our membership through guest speakers, we also have an extensive book and video library that members can check out similar to your local lending library.

CSA sponsors a number of trips throughout the year to various local and out of state waters.  Our local trips provide a way for members to learn from more experienced club members where, when, and how to fish the waters close to home.  Our out of state trip offerings include trips to Cuttyhunk Island in Massachusetts, Island Beach State Park in New Jersey, and the famous Block Island.  While the club organizes trips, a clear benefit of the club is meeting others and fishing together both locally or abroad.

One of the goals of CSA is to promote the longevity of surfcasting by getting new members and family of members involved in the club.  CSA offers a family membership which includes all members of your immediate family.  We also have a youth division in all of our annual fishing contests. CSA encourages family participation in our club.  The club picnic at the July meeting has been a well received family event pot-luck dinner.

While regulatory concerns are not our main focus, CSA tries to preserve and protect the surfcasting traditions by keeping our members informed of the fisheries related activities that our federal, state, and local governments are legislating.

With limited shoreline available to surfcast in Connecticut, CSA focuses on protecting and maintaining those areas that allow access to fisherman.  CSA participates and sponsors several beach cleanups throughout the year in such locations as Madison, CT, Westerly, RI and many other areas that are frequented by shore fisherman.
